Soil that has become overly saturated with water, resulting in a soft, soggy, and muddy texture is mushy soil. This condition can lead to a range of problems for plants and gardens like root rot, fungal growth, oxygen deprivation, nutrient washout. This can be either due to high content of clay in the soil or compact soil being used for the plants. Not well drained potting mixture can lead the same harmful results.
